Papers of May Sarton, 1957-1992.

Collection consists of typed pages from a loose-leaf notebook from her class at Radcliffe Seminars, 1957-1958; entries include quotations, notes, assignments, topics for classes, etc. Also class lists; a poem by Sarton entitled "A Birthday" for the 60th birthday of her friend William Theophilus Brown, 1979, and a letter from Brown to Sarton's friend and editor, Susan Sherman, giving further information about the poem; and a letter to Brown from Sarton, thanking him for contributing to her festschrift on the occasion of her 80th birthday, 1992.

By Source, Fair use, Link May Sarton (May 3, 1912-July 16, 1995), poet and novelist, was born Elanore Marie Sarton in Wondelgem, Belgium, the daughter of George Sarton, a noted historian of science, and Eleanor Mabel Elwes, an English portrait painter and designer.
